Weha Donkey Quartz Surface Polishing Pads

Overview

The Weha Donkey Quartz Surface Polishing Pads are a diamond sponge pad series specifically designed to repair surface scratches, blend seams, and refine polish texture on quartz, engineered stone, granite, and marble. Its nonwoven sponge material holds a lot of water, making it especially useful in repair work where water supply might be limited (e.g., on-site repairs).

These pads are often used after traditional multi-step polishing pads (like 3-step systems) to fine-tune the finish or to recover surface gloss after minor damage.

The Weha Donkey Quartz Surface Polishing Pads are professional-grade diamond-embedded sponge pads engineered for precision stone finishing and repair work. Designed specifically for quartz, engineered stone, granite, and marble, these pads excel at restoring surface aesthetics by effectively removing minor scratches, smoothing out blemishes, and blending seams for a seamless, uniform appearance.

Constructed from resilient nonwoven sponge material, the pads hold water exceptionally well, making them ideal for on-site repair jobs where water supply may be limited. This water-retention feature ensures consistent cooling and lubrication during polishing, preventing heat buildup and maintaining the integrity of the stone surface. The pads are suitable for both wet and damp applications, giving fabricators and installers versatility in various working conditions.

Weha Donkey pads are compatible with hand polishing and machine-assisted polishing tools, offering a controlled approach to fine-tuning the surface finish. Their flexible construction allows them to conform to edges, corners, and curved surfaces, ensuring a professional, high-quality finish across the entire work area.

Whether it’s repairing scratches, blending seams, or refining polish texture on quartz or natural stones, the Weha Donkey Quartz Surface Polishing Pads provide a reliable, efficient, and durable solution for achieving flawless results in both residential and commercial stone projects.

Typical Use Pattern

  • After initial polishing stages (e.g., 3-step pads), start with lower grit Donkey pads and progress to higher grit (600 → 1000 → 2000, etc.) until the surface matches the surrounding gloss.

  • Operate at 1200 RPM or less, with a preferred target around 800 RPM.

Key Features

  • Diamond-sponge construction: For aggressive cut and polishing while holding water, ideal for in-field repairs and seam blending.

  • Hook & loop backing: Simple attachment to 4″ or larger backing pads on drill or polisher.

  • Versatile material compatibility: Works on quartz, engineered stone, granite, marble, and similar surfaces.

  • Water-rich design: Pads act like a sponge, useful where water flow is limited during repair jobs.

  • RPM-controlled use: Best performance at 800 RPM, max 1200 RPM for optimal finish and pad life.

  • Blends texture well: Helps match factory finish texture when polishing by hand or machine.

How to Use the Weha Donkey Quartz Face Polishing Pads

To Remove a Scratch from Quartz Surface:

  1. Start with the Weha Trio 3-step pads using the Weha Aluminum Rigid Back Up Pad or the Weha Thin Rigid Back Up Pad. Use all 3 pads, fanning out each grit.

  2. After Step 3, start with the Weha Donkey Pad 600 grit, then 1000 grit, then 2000 grit using the same fanning pattern at 1200 RPM or less.

  3. After 2000 grit, dry the surface and check the finish.

  4. If necessary, continue to 3000 grit. Occasionally, depending on the quartz stone, a 6000 grit may be needed.

  5. If using 7-step diamond polishing pads, bring up to 3000 grit, then start back with the Weha Donkey Pad 600 grit, then 1000 grit, then 2000 grit with the same fanning pattern at 1200 RPM or less.

To Remove Scratch Marks from Marble:

  1. Start with the 600 grit Donkey pad at low RPM (≤1800) and work over the area in 30-second increments.

  2. Depending on the marble and gloss, a 1000 grit and 2000 grit may be necessary.

To Remove a Scratch from Granite Surface:

  3. After 1000 grit, dry the surface and check the finish. If necessary, move to 2000 grit and recheck.

  4. If not, continue to 3000 grit. Occasionally, depending on the granite or quartz, a 6000 grit may be needed.

  5. If using 7-step diamond polishing pads, bring up to 3000 grit, then start back with the Weha Donkey Pad 600 grit, then 1000 grit, then 2000 grit using the same fanning pattern at 1200 RPM or less.

Additional Tips:

  • RPM: 1200 RPM or less; preferred RPM is 800.

  • For repairs inside the home, soak the Donkey surface polishing pads in water for at least 20 minutes to ensure sufficient water retention for surface repair.
